Mark invited to write some insights into his use of
Studio Artist
Mark Bannerman was invited by John Dalton the creator
of Studio Artist to write a piece on his experimental
use of Studio Artist for adding an enhanced organic
quality to 3D rendered artwork and texture creation.
Studio Artist is a resolution independent video graphic, painting, animation and rotoscope software tool used mainly in video post processing that works on the principles of a digital synthesizer for images. Unlike the on/off effects filters of Photoshop it's use of filters and painting mechanisms is more analogous to the human brains' perception of colour, form and texture within images and as such produces far more realistic natural media effects. Like a music synthesizer it also uses the concept of patches in linking how signals are processed when effecting every option within it's vast toolbox.
The piece is posted on the synthetik's company blog.
NB: Studio Artist is a Macintosh application only.
User's browsing the Studio Artist blog with Firefox may be presented with what seems like an empty black page, try changing the default firefox text color in the firefox preferences from black to something else or switch to another browser - or don't bother.
